IS CHRISTMAS A DAY OR A SEASON?

For the whole of Christianity, this is a very important feast as it marks the day Jesus, the saviour of the world, was born.

Christmas, the Christian feast which celebrates the birth of Christ. For centuries this feast has been celebrated on the 25th of December annually.

However, Christmas has come to stay as it is not only celebrated by Christians, but also by non-Christians alike. The festivity falls during December which happens to be the end of the year & the holiday season. The big question today remains;

Is Christmas a day or a season?

Truly, Christmas is a religious feast celebrated on the 25th of December every year (Christmas day). But unlike other religious celebrations, it lasts though the period from the 2nd week of December to the 2nd week of January (Christmas-New Year season).

But while for some it marks the arrival of the expected Messiah of the Jews. For some others, it is merely shopping season! A season to purchase new items and expect lots of gifts, with plenty of merriment to go with it.

And while there could be nothing wrong with that, I can't help but ask, what is the true meaning of Christmas?

Cause if Christmas is about the day to you, it means you value more that Jesus Christ the Son of God became man to die for our sins. While if it's all about the season then you value the good things that Christmas brings.

I really can't think of an answer to the question, but it is obvious that Christmas brings something unique to the year - Joy.

Whether you see it as a day or a season, Christmas is that time of the year we get to have fun with those we love without worrying about the expenses. And that's something! If only everyday could be Christmas 😁✌

So as we celebrate Christmas this year, let us not forget the reason for the season - Giving with love. Now is the time to show love to the orphans, the widows, abandoned children, the needy ones, the poor, the less privileged. Give with a cheerful heart for that is the true spirit of Christmas. Cheers
