What 2k19 Holds For Us All
Be happy, it drives haters CRAZY!!
There is nothing more terrifying than being
an antisocial pessimist. Both qualities sum up to make a person the ultimate
antagonist. And while January comes to an end – be happy. It’s the least you
can do for yourself. There’s no need to be grumpy, it’s only the end of another
month not doomsday itself.
Speaking of the month coming to an end (or
should I say typing of the month coming to an end), let’s do a quick preview of
what the coming months have got to o9ffer. Well it’s 2019, & probably the
only time you’re going to find 20 coming before 19 ;) That alone is a fun fact
for a fun year ahead.
FEBRUARY: in February, Nigerians would be
headed to the polls. It’s election year once again in the biggest country on
the African continent & whoever we choose to lead us as a people would be
guaranteed a four-year tenure to do that (hopefully, everything goes well). So it’s
Mr. President who is vying for a second term against the rest.
MARCH: March makes it the 150 years since
the discovery of the periodic table (of elements) by the Russian scientist Y’all-Know-Who. For those who don’t, you
can google the name - Dmitri Mendeleev. Isn’t it funny how at the time of
discovery there were only 63 elements. Today, we have 118 & counting. Who
knows how many there would be, come the next 150 years. I guess you just have
to stay alive till then to find out. Good luck with that one, I’d probably be
in heaven keeping tabs pon that one.
APRIL: for hardcore fans & lovers
(which I happen to be a part of), the long awaited & publicised last season
(wait for it, I mean it’s been over 12 months since the last episode) of… the…
GAME OF THRONESSSSS!!!! returns in April. They say it’s just 6 episodes, who
cares, so long as it’s the last. It promises to be epic & expect a lot of
things to go south as there is a tough battle for the iron throne & another
battle with the army of the dead. That’s how much I can give you for a spoiler
(you should know these things already). So be sure to catch up on episodes you
missed before then cause truly, this time, ‘Winter is Coming!’
MAY: there was always the Children’s Day to look
forward to in May, back then when the boy was much younger. But nobody stays
young forever then. Speaking of being forever young, I do know a friend of mine
whose birthday falls on Children’s Day (so much for having weirdoes as
friends). I guess I will always have something to look forward to in May.
JUNE: come June, the African continent
would be at a standstill for the 32nd edition of the African Cup of
Nations (AFCON) where our beloved ‘Super Eagles’ of Nigeria would be vying for
their fourth trophy. The female team ‘Super Falcons’ of Nigeria would also be
at the WORLD CUP in France doing Africa proud. They are the current African
champions & the most decorated African team. We would be strongly behind
both teams supporting them both from back home where Nigerians are football
loving fanatics. We know they can go all the way, so fly high SUPER
EAGLES/FALCONS!!!!
JULY: Yes. There is predicted to be a lunar
eclipse (partial) sometime in July. And No. This is not the one where the moon
comes between the sun & earth. I think it’s the other way around. It should
be something pretty for everyone on the planet gets to witness in common.
Remember, lunar eclipses don’t occur every day.
AUGUST: did you know that August 1 is
celebrated as National Girlfriend’s Day? Maybe not in your country, but in the
US & some parts of the world. Well, I can forgive you if you didn’t know,
what happened to Valentine’s Day? I think one holiday for the ladies is enough,
this is just an evil scheme by the ladies to hold us to ransom & try to get
us to pay bills. Dates are understandable but girlfriend’s day (it’s obvious
they trying too hard). However one thing to expect in August is BABIES! With
the rains going on break in the part of the world, August is the perfect
climate for twoJ. Remember we have an obligation to multiply.
As for the ‘ember’ months: September,
October, November, December – there is only one thing to look forward to &
that is CHRISTMAS. From the first day of September, I just have to double my
hustle so I can flex my Yuly.. Yulu… is it Yuletide? Well we still got a long
time till then.
